We got off early(ish) this morning for Son La – 150km away. Roads were good – still winding around hills and mountains but easily manageable. We stopped for lunch at Tuan Giao and were glad that we didn’t decide to spend the previous night here as there was very little in the town.
We continued on to Son La. At this point, we started to head up into some more mountains and the roads were very steep.
The scenery around us was fantastic and the hills around us looked like a quilted blanket. The road all the way to Son La was good quality. It was the first time we saw rain today but luckily we were close to Son La at this point.
The hotel was basic but very cheap. We visited the French prison and walked around town. We had an early night as we’ve got a long drive tomorrow.
